And Now for Something a Little Different …

Usually, I post something in line with the theme of the month on the first and then each Monday thereafter. But, since this is January and the beginning of a new year, and I’ve made a lot of changes to the website, I thought I’d just give you a mini tour of the place.

Newsletter Opt-In Form

First, take a look at the right-hand navigation bar. At the top is an opt-in form for the bi-monthly newsletter, The ART of Business. This newsletter highlights content on this website, but also features one or two newsletter-exclusive stories.

Random Inspiration

Below the opt-in form is “Random Inspiration.” Here you’ll find a new inspirational quote each time you refresh the page. At the moment there aren’t that many quotes, but I’ll be adding them as I find them. I hope you find them uplifting.

Website Search

The next item is a search box. When you put in a key word and hit enter, your search results will show anything the engine found in both blog entries and pages.

Section Navigation

Section Navigation will list sub-pages of a given page. Top level pages are listed across the top of the website. Sub-pages, if there are any, are listed under Section Navigation.

RSS by Email

Next comes RSS by Email. This handy features lets you subscribe to the Women’s Business Gallery RSS feed. If you don’t want to have to remember to go to a reader to read the feed, this is an excellent option. Each time a blog post goes live, you’ll receive an email notice about it.

Special Days & Events

Beneath that is a section called “Special Days & Events.” This can be a real good promotional tool for you. It lists seven special days and events that are coming up. Use this to plan your own promotion around that day or event. For example, President’s Day is coming up in February. Maybe you’ll want to have a Presidential Sale of your goods or services. Maybe you’ll want to honor your clients with a special “Be a President for a Day” promotion. This section gives you a heads up of themes that you can use in your marketing.

Lastly, you have Login. Here’s where you would log into or register for the website. To post comments on the various blog posts, you need to be a member of the website, which is free. Also, if you sign up with the website, you’ll get first notice on anything cool or new happing at the Gallery. This section also gives you links for subscribing to RSS feeds in your favorite reader.

Left Navigation Bar

The left-hand navigation bar is much more simple. It just gives you the topical schedule for three months, the ability to find blog posts by date or category, and shows you a snapshot of products in the Women’s Business Gallery shop, as well as your shopping cart.

I hope this post helps you take full advantage of the features the Women’s Business Gallery provides through its website. As more features and services are added, they will be announced in The ART of Business (or by special email to website members).
