A Note from the Editor

Hello to All,

Welcome to this issue of The ART of Business newsletter and a big welcome to all the new subscribers. We've been having a spectacular month at the Gallery and I'm excited to share our news: first, we launched our ebook, the Infopreneur's Action Guide and to celebrate its launch, we had our first-ever giveaway drawing for a free copy of the book. The lucky winner (drum roll please) is: Mary J. Garcia from Texas. Congratulations, Mary!

We'll be having weekly drawings for the rest of this month too, so if you haven't entered to win yet, go to: Ebook Drawing and enter your name. Who knows? You might be the next lucky winner!

You can check out all the great information the book offers here: Table of Contents. And for those of you who purchase the book during the month of October, you'll also receive the bonus eReport, "Success Experts' Strategies That Supercharge Sales" (a $9.95 value), which we won't even be offering to the public until the ebook celebration is over at the end of this month. That's two great values for one low price! You can order your copy of the downloadable book that comes with the bonus eReport here: Infopreneur's Action Guide. Isn't it time you made your future a priority?

Success Planning for Your Ideal Life

If you're like many small business owners, you probably don't have a formal business plan or a written marketing plan that guides your day-to-day operations. The truth is--or at least from what I've discovered about the majority of entrepreneurs I work with is--most people don't have much more than a broad "To Do" list in the back of their mind.

When it comes to planning their company's future, they basically know what they want to see happen, but they don't sit down and map out specifically what they'll do to make it happen. And while I don't advocate having some bloated document like a formal business plan dictating your every move, I do believe in having a success plan.

Doesn't that just sound more exciting to live by--a success plan--and more motivating to develop? I mean, who doesn't want to be successful?

It only makes sense, then, to have a success plan to help you achieve your goals. But what exactly is it, and how do you create one, and most importantly, how will a success plan help your business?

In the corporate world, a success plan is called a "mission statement." For small businesses, it's essentially a roadmap to your future; a big-picture snapshot of your ideal life--sort of like a satellite photo of your town, where when you zoom in closer, you can see the individual roads that will take you from Point A to Point B. These "roads" in your success plan are the steps you need to take to achieve your objectives.

So to create your success plan, you need to:

  1. Identify what your ideal life looks like (capture the "big picture" in writing)
  2. Establish milestone goals (zoom in to find the roads you'll travel)
  3. Determine what tasks are involved in reaching each goal (plan your route)
  4. Prioritize the tasks (determine what stops you need to make along the way, and which order you need to make them in)

You can see how to draft your success plan by looking at the last few pages of the sample book chapter on our website at: Success Plan. The chapter comes from our ebook, The Infopreneur's Action Guide, but it can be applied to any business venture, not just infopreneuring.

The purpose, or goal, of your success plan is to help you focus on what you want your future to look like so you can take steps to adapt your business practices to make it happen--to bring your vision to life. Your future is truly in your hands; if you really want what you think you want, then take focused action and plan for your success. Now you have the tools to begin, the rest is up to you.
