Feature Article: Success is the Ability to Experience Failure after Failure and Still Remain Optimistic

Those words of wisdom came to me a few days ago from a message contained in a Fortune Cookie! It's another way of saying Persistence Overcomes but it is a most positive way of saying it. Persistence still pays even if you do it doggedly but how much more enjoyable it would be to remain optimistic throughout the inevitable failures all businesses experience. You would be much more pleasant to deal with and, consequently, much more likely to attract new business and better business productivity. The failure would not have caused you to hesitate in fear of more failure.

Hesitation often means a missed opportunity. It can also keep you from expressing your new ideas, one of which could be just what your company needs to take off. We all learn more from our failures than our successes. Overcoming failures provides the foundation for all successful undertakings, both personally and professionally.

Perhaps you have heard the old joke about the very successful businessman who, when asked for the key to his success, replied "Good decisions." His interviewer responded, "But how do you determine which are good and which are bad decisions?" "Experience" said the businessman, "and experience comes from making bad decisions."

A tried and true method of making decisions is to list the Pros and Cons and make your decision based on which outweighs the other. This is not just a numbers game, Some pros and some cons carry more weight than others. If you honestly feel the pros and cons are equal, then go with your gut; just make sure your gut is not paralyzed by fear of failure.

What's New

When you are about to launch a business for the first time or are still in the fledgling stage of a new business, any help or new knowledge you can gain through books, CD's, online programs, seminars, webinars, etc. is valuable. However, one-on-one conversations with someone who has "been there, done that" is, arguably, the most valuable of all.

To that end, we are offering a new service, originally only to readers of our Newsletter, a la carte telephone consultation. Here's how it works: YOU decide how many phone consultation hours you would like to have, make an appointment (day and time EST) and we will discuss only your specific business and/or answer any specific questions you might have. No need for membership or any long-term commitment. You will be charged the very low hourly rate of $50.00 (plus whatever costs you might incur in telephone charges) which you can pay through PayPal. They will accept VISA or MasterCard as well as electronic cash/check. As soon as we receive payment, we will email you a number to call and confirm the day and time you requested, or suggest an alternate time for your approval.

If you like this service, we will add it to the site's ongoing list of services. Order by e-mailing info@womens-business-gallery.com. If you have any difficulty getting through at this address, email me personally at arlenehadley@hotmail.com.
