Success Is a State of Mind
If you want 2009 to be a successful year for you, you need to make sure that you nurture the right mindset. Without it you may sabotage your progress or spin your wheels in the wrong direction.
Here are somethings you should take this week to ponder as you prepare to claim next year as your best year ever.
Do you have a business mindset?
Having a business mindset is knowing that the purpose of business is to make money. You need to realize that sometimes your hobby is just a hobby. Either you’re going to have a hobby that makes you a little extra money or you’re going to have a business that requires a higher level of development in order to acquire a higher level of income. You need to be clear on this!
Think for Yourself!
Don’t just follow what I or any other business adviser says. Our advice might work for you or it might not. You should know your business better than anyone else. Don’t allow the experts to control your destiny or your dreams. Simply allow us to help you get there. Take some time to think, document, research your own idea before asking for help — if you do — you will be better equipped to ask for exactly what you want and getting it.
Know your business inside and out.
You need to know what you need right now to move forward with your business. Do you know your profit margin, cash flow, competitive advantage, sales goals, and your key profit indicators? Track everything you can in your business. This is how you connect with your profitability.
Take massive, but thoughtful, action.
As much as he annoys me, Glenn Deitzel has something when he says, “Speed to market! Speed to market! Speed to market!” Speed of implementation is the key to growing your business. But you also need a strategy. Don’t just focus on the day-to-day mundane tasks and deadlines, solving short-term problems, and implementing marketing tactics that aren’t a good fit for your businesses. Take time to plan things in advance. Strategize. Peer into the future you want for your business. Where are you going and how are you going to get there?
Develop your marketing funnel.
Be open to multiple streams of income and multiple businesses that fit your companies goals. Regardless of your business, you don’t have to put all your eggs in one basket. Be courageous. Branch out with new businesses or revenue models. The key to being succesful is the ability to adapt to a growing market.
