Social Media and Your Online Video Marketing Strategy
Sharing your videos on social networking sites can help you reach people who might not find your video on hosting sites such as YouTube. For example, I post my videos on YouTube and upload them to Facebook so that more people can see them. It also helps keep your Facebook fan page active, which improves it’s search engine optimization and ranking.
According to Submit Express, Facebook is one of the top five video sites, so uploading your videos to your Facebook account can have an positive effect on your business.
Of course, you’ll want to optimize your video on social media just as you would on hosting sites, using the same tips I discussed on Wednesday in Optimizing Strategies for Online Video Marketing.
Facebook makes it easy to share video, but you’ll also want to share your videos with your Twitter followers and, possibly, your LinkedIn connections. Here are some tips on how to do that:
Sharing Video on Twitter
There are basically two ways to share video on Twitter, due to it’s 140 character limit:
- You can tweet the link to where you have your video hosted. This is the most straight forward and simple way.
- You can use a Twitter-based video sharing service, such as TwitVid. This service is very similar to TwitPic, which shares pictures, in that you upload the video to the site and it will create a tweet for you. There are other Twitter video sharing services available, as well, you can find a list in this Mashable post.
Sharing Video on LinkedIn
LinkedIn and SlideShare have partnered up so that you can add video to your LinkedIn profile, but there are other services you can use, as well. These include Google Presentation, SimpleZesty and others.
You can find instruction on how to add a SlideShare video to your LinkedIn profile here. A video on how to embed video using Google Presentations can be found here.
