The Benefits of Residual Affiliate Programs

If you're new here, you'll want to be sure to get your free report and subscribe to the monthly e-zine and, perhaps, subscribe to the RSS feed, as well. Thanks for visiting!

So far, I’ve only talked about affiliate marketing as it relates to the one-time commission variety. But, did you know that there are affiliate programs that give you a monthly residual commission?

Residual affiliate programs usually pay only a small percentage of sales commission for every sale directed by the affiliate to the merchant’s site. This commission often comes only in the range of 10% to 20%. Because of this, many people ignore residual affiliate programs, favoring the high paying one-time commission affiliate programs.

But, sometimes it’s nice to have a monthly check coming in, don’t you think? Sure, residual affiliate programs pay at a lower rate, but they pay you regular and ongoing commissions for a single affiliate initiated sale! That means, for the same effort you might put into a one-time commission program, you get a regular and ongoing commission for a residual program!

Software for Better Office Mangement

omsw.gifBoy! I’m getting a late start today. I’ve been on teleseminars all morning and the day is just whizzing by!

Anyway, last week I highlighted three areas that you can look at to improve office management. The first one was software, which is what I’ll cover today.

Before going into the benefits of using office management software, I think I should touch upon what it is. There are a number of different formats, but all office management software programs have the same goal — to ease the process of running an office-related business.

The Lunch List

lunchlist.gifIn January, I started doing something new with this blog. The first post of the month, which is published on the first day of the month, was something different from the month’s theme (as posted in the editorial calendar). I liked that freedom to talk about something else and since an interesting concept came up for me last week, I thought I’d continue that trend.

On Jan. 23, as some of you know, I was interviewed for WECAI.org’s Wednesday Chat on how to boost your business with blogs. As part of that conversation, we talked about “blog memes,” which basically, much like all memes, are catch phrases or sound bites that get propagated throughout the blogosphere.

Out of that conversation came the idea of the “Lunch List” — a list of people you would just love to have lunch with. I really liked that idea and, believe me, I could come up with a whole bunch of such lists.

However, in keeping with the Women’s Business Gallery theme, I thought I would share with you my Top 5 Business Women Lunch List. This is a list of five women I would love to have lunch with so that I could not only enjoy their interesting and sparkling personality, but also learn a few things that might help me improve my business (which, of course, I would pass on to you!).

So, here it goes, in no particular order:

Search Engine Friendly Pages

spider.jpgThere is no point in building a website unless there are visitors coming to it. A major source of traffic for most sites on the Internet are the search engines like Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Altavista and so on. Hence, by designing a site that is search engine friendly, you will be able to rank better in search engines and obtain more visitors.

To do this, you need to know one piece of technical information — what search engines use to list websites in their search results. Major search engines use programs called spiders, crawlers or robots to index websites. These spiders crawl a website by following links to a page, reading the content on the page and recording it in the engine’s database. When people do a search, they are really searching the web, but rather the search engine’s database of websites.

If you want your site to be indexed, it is important that you avoid things that will cause a spider to reject or ignore your website. Here are some things to do and to avoid.
