Talk About Your Book to Promote It

Talk About Your Book to Promote ItYou’ve written a book, so I’m going to assume that you know your topic well enough to talk about it. Here are some book marketing techniques that use your voice to promote your book.

Radio Interviews

Pitch your topic to both traditional and Internet radio shows. Focus on programs that will reach your target market, where you can make the host look good, and what you can talk about will make the show appealing to it’s audience.

Be prepared with up to three point to cover, since most radio interviews are only a few minutes in length. If you can include the title of your book within your points, so much the better!

Television Interviews

These are very similar to radio interviews, but are often harder to get. A good way to get on a T.V. show is to tie your topic to a current event or holiday. A client of mine got a TV interview by tying her topic to Halloween!

When first promoting his book, Jack Canfield, author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, made it his “mission” to do at least one radio or TV interview per day. You can do this, too! And what’s so great about it, is that it will snowball. Once you’ve proven you’re a good guest on one show, it makes it easier to get on another, and sometimes get invited back.

Teleseminars

This is a great way to not only help joint venture partners promote your business and earn an affiliate income, it can help you grow your list, as well. Even better, you might be able to use the recording of one or more of your seminars as a opt-in bonus or even a full-fledged product!

These are quite simple and inexpensive to do, as well. There are plenty of free teleconferencing services available. The two I use and recommend are freeconferencepro.com and freeconferencecalling.com.

Public Speaking

Get yourself in front of live audiences comprised of members of your target audience. Depending on what your particular niche is, this could include:

  • Chambers of Commerce
  • Rotary Clubs
  • Lyons Clubs
  • Special Interest Clubs
  • Trade Shows
  • Church Groups
  • Non-Profit Groups

You could even hold your own event and invite people to come on down!
